On the afternoon of May 13, the China-SCO Institute of Economy and Trade Advancing Work Conference was held at the SCO Service Center. At the meeting, Qingdao University, University of International Business and Economics, Shandong University, Fudan University Qingdao Research Institute and other governing units introduced the relevant work progress and next-step deployment of the China-SCO Institute of Economy and Trade in 2022. The governing units expressed that they should actively undertake the responsibilities of the China-SCO Institute of Economy and Trade, carry out exchanges and cooperation with universities in the SCO countries in humanities, science and technology, and education, further deepen the promotion of international education cooperation with the SCO countries, and help SCO in the development of multilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Li Gang said that the China-SCO Institute of Economy and Trade is the "national heavy responsibility" announced by General Secretary Xi Jinping, and it is an important support for the multilateral economic and trade development of the SCO. Since the beginning of this year, all governing units have overcome various adverse effects brought about by the epidemic, gave full play to their own resource advantages, and carried out many educational training, academic exchange activities and cooperative education projects with rich SCO elements and distinctive economic and trade characteristics. At present, the construction of the institute is showing a good momentum in spreading and accelerating.

Li Gang said that although many achievements have been made, there is still a long way to go "to build the institute into a new highlight of educational cooperation and a new model of education and training for the SCO and the countries along the ‘Belt and Road’, and to create an internationally influential new base of economic and trade research, talent training and deep integration of industries, universities and research institutes”. All governing units should further enhance the awareness of "going out and inviting in", seize the opportunities of "window period" of the epidemic, connect with high-level universities in the SCO countries and countries along the "Belt and Road", and pave the way for cooperation and exchanges in the post-epidemic era. First, it is necessary to give full play to the role of the council and carry out active explorations in education and training, academic research, think tank construction, etc.. Second, to comprehensively enhance the teaching capacity of the institute. Third, to further improve the level of internationalized school-running, and focus on exploring the "post-epidemic era" foreign-related training model and break through Offline foreign-related training to make big brand of SCO education and training. Finally, to polish the "golden signboard" of the China-SCO Institute of Economy and Trade, with a sense of urgency that can't sit still, a sense of crisis that can't be slow, and a sense of responsibility that can't afford to wait. Start all-around educational cooperation and make every effort to promote the construction of the institute.
