In the afternoon of December 1st, Qingdao University and St. Petersburg State University of Russia held a video working meeting in the conference room of International Office of Minxing Building. Li Jun, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Qingdao University, and Valeria Maromzh, Assistant Vice President of St. Petersburg State University, attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Wang Yunbo, Director of the International Division of Qingdao University. Zlada Maryasheva, Advisor to the Assistant Vice Rector of St. Petersburg University, Viktor Titov, First Vice-Rector of the Faculty of Economics, Olga Chofimenko, Interim Chair of the Department of World Economics, Ma Lingang, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of the SCO Economic and Trade Academy, Director of the SCO Economic and Trade Academy Office, Director of the SCO Campus Construction Office, Gao Hongwei, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics, Lv Xueliang, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Si Xianpeng and Huang Koon, Deputy Director of the International Division, Liu Fang, staff members, etc. Gao Hongwei, Dean of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, Lv Xueliang, Vice Dean of the School of Economics, Si Xianpeng and Huang Koon, Deputy Directors of the International Division, and Liu Fangfang, a staff member, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Li Jun and Valeria Mamoruž introduced the history of Qingdao University and St. Petersburg State University respectively, the scale of faculty and students, disciplines and specialties, as well as international exchanges and cooperation. The heads of faculties and departments of the two universities also introduced the details of their respective faculties and departments. The participants discussed in depth the future areas of cooperation between the two universities, and both sides unanimously decided to promote cooperation in the field of international economy and trade based on cooperation in mathematics, mutual visits of teachers, exchange of students, and joint training of students under the framework of SCO Economic and Trade Academy. Bothagreed to sign a memorandum of inter-school cooperation in the near future.

Since 2007, the School of Mathematics and Statistics of Qingdao University and the Department of Applied Mathematics and Control Processes of St. Petersburg State University have maintained good cooperation in research, exchange of experts and joint international academic conferences. In January 2021, the university was approved to cooperate with St. Petersburg University in the "Promotion of International Cooperation and Training Program with Russia, Ukraine and Belarus", and in 2023, the university plans to cooperate with St. Petersburg State University in the dual-degree program of "Mathematical Methods and Artificial Intelligence Methods in Digital Economy" and "Game Theory and Operations Research".
