On the morning of August 16, as one of the important events of the 6th Silk Expo, the first "Belt and Road" Commercial and Legal Cooperation Summit Forum was held in Xi'an. With the theme of "Strengthening International Legal and Commercial Cooperation and High-quality Joint Construction of the ‘Belt and Road’", the forum focused on commercial and legal exchanges and cooperation. The Executive Dean of the SCO Institute of Economics and Trade, the Standing Committee Member of the Qingdao University's Party Committee and Vice President Xiao Jiangnan were invited to lead the meeting.

As the main body of the implementation of the SCO Institute of Economics and Trade, Qingdao University leverages its advantages as a comprehensive university, relies on the law discipline of Qingdao University, and gathers high-end resources in the fields of legal education, legal services, and foreign-related business associations at home and abroad, and established the SCO Institute of Economic and Trade Legal Services on July 30 this year, which aims to build an important academic platform in the field of foreign-related rule of law, a think tank for political advice, a talent training base, and a window for displaying achievements, and efforts have been made to achieve results in the theoretical research of foreign-related rule of law, the development of foreign-related rule of law practice, the training of foreign-related rule of law talents, and the construction of the "Belt and Road" legal think tank.

The forum is co-hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government, and the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Resolution Organization. The forum invited well-known experts and scholars in the legal field at home and abroad to participate in the forum with gathering experts and wonderful content. It also set up a mediator training launching ceremony, the promotion of the "Belt and Road" international commercial legal service demonstration area, keynote speeches, special seminars, etc. During the session, representatives from the China Lawyers Association, Mongolian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Macao Legal Workers Federation, Lawyers Associations of the Five Northwest Provinces, CCPITs of various provinces, well-known universities, and many legal service institutions participated on the spot. The entire event was broadcast live in both Chinese and English in 96 countries (regions) including Asia, Europe, Africa, and South America, with a total of 152,900 visits online and offline.

On the afternoon of August 16, Xiao Jiangnan and his party went to Northwest University of Political Science and Law to conduct research on the construction of SCO's economic and trade legal services and held a symposium.

Xiao Jiangnan briefly introduced the establishment background and development status of the China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization Institute of Economics and Trade. He expressed his gratitude to Northwest University of Political Science and Law for its strong support during the establishment of the SCO Economic and Trade Legal Service Institute. Wang Jian, vice president of Northwest University of Political Science and Law, introduced the development of the school. Experts at the meeting conducted full exchanges in their respective fields. They all agreed that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has become a new model for global regional governance and a new benchmark for regional cooperation in the new era. The SCO Institute of Economics and Trade is a major task planned and deployed by General Secretary Xi Jinping, and all parties have the responsibility and obligation to contribute to promoting the building of a new platform for international cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. In the next step, the two sides will focus on the four major areas of "personnel training, talent training, think tank construction, and scientific and technological cooperation" of the SCO Economic and Trade Institute, give full play to their academic advantages, and rely on the joint establishment of the SCO Economic and Trade Legal Service Research Institute to carry out close cooperation in multiple fields. , to provide legal service guarantees for promoting the SCO and the "Belt and Road" countries and regions to achieve a higher level, more forms, and wider scope of all-round cooperation.

After the meeting, Xiao Jiangnan and his entourage visited the International Law Library of the International Law Research Center of Northwest University of Political Science and Law and the Information Center of the Silk Road Regional Cooperation and Development Law Institute.
