On July 12, the five-language official website of the SCO Demonstration Area (www.scoda.com) was launched for trial operation and the unveiling ceremony of the Qingdao University Internship Practice Base was held. The website will authoritatively publish the dynamic news and news of the Shanghai Cooperation Demonstration Area, and can realize the free switching of Chinese, Russian, English, Japanese and Korean versions in five languages. The languages​cover most of the countries and regions along the "Belt and Road", which will become another important platform for the latest developments in the SCO Demonstration Area and enhance the international influence of the Demonstration Area.

It is reported that the five-language official website of the SCO Demonstration Area is aimed at global users mainly from SCO-related countries. The homepage could be divided into 4 parts: Enter the SCO, News and Events, "4+1" Center, Investment in SCO, and One-website Service. Meng Qingsheng, member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of the SCO Demonstration Area, introduced that the five-language official website is an important platform for the SCO Demonstration Area to expand opening to the outside world, display image, and increase its international influence. "The website will focus on displaying the new development and achievements of the SCO Demonstration Area, and authoritatively publishing policy information such as investment, trade, and services. It will become an important window for friends from all walks of life to understand, enter and integrate into the SCO, and make contributions to spreading the international influence of SCO.”

In order to enhance the affinity and effectiveness of international communication, the four foreign language versions of the website have two sections: life service and service guidance, which gather cultural information such as China's national featured cuisine, consumption hotspots, and culture and art. Bian Jianhua, Dean of the College of Foreign Languages of Qingdao University, introduced that in the preparations for the launch of the website of the SCO Demonstration Area, young teachers from the College and some postgraduates formed a team, and completed the review and editing of the Japanese and Korean websites, ensuring that the website is operated on time successfully. "In the future, the college will rely on the advantages of Qingdao University as a comprehensive one, gather the strength of teachers and students from whole college, give full play to the multilingual characteristics of English, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Western and Russian, and explore the cooperation of educating and developing with the SCO Demonstration Area."

The SCO Demonstration Area and Qingdao University have a good foundation for cooperation. In order to better serve the national strategy, in 2020, Qingdao University will take the initiative to connect with the Area, with Qingdao University as the main body, bringing together advantageous resources such as Shandong University and Fudan University to prepare for the establishment of the SCO (ASEAN) Institute of Economy and Trade, which is an important platform for joint scientific research, transformation of scientific research results, and high-end think tank decision-making, and it will be built as a high-end talent training, scientific, educational and cultural collaboration platform based on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and facing the world, and a high-level political, business, and academic exchange and dialogue platform. Du Fangbo, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Deputy Secretary of Qingdao University, introduced that the launch of the five-language website (trial operation) and the unveiling of the practice base of the College of Foreign Languages of Qingdao University are another important carrier for in-depth exchanges and cooperation between the SCO Demonstration Area and Qingdao University. "The university opened the 'SCO-English-Russian Bilingual Innovation Experimental Class' this year, aiming to cultivate compound top foreign language talents who are "proficient in English and Russian, understanding national conditions, and being good at communication". Besides, he hoped that the cooperation between the university and the SCO Demonstration Area would continued to bear fruitful results.

It is reported that the College of Foreign Languages of Qingdao University was established in 2002 and has 8 undergraduate enrollment majors including English, Japanese, Korean, German, French and Spanish. The college has cooperated with the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shandong Provincial People's Government and the Foreign Affairs Office of the Qingdao Municipal People's Government to build more than 20 internship training bases including provincial joint training bases.
